On February 25, at Galaxy Unpacked 2026 in San Francisco, Samsung Electronics unveiled the Galaxy S26 series, its third-generation Galaxy AI phone. Samsung says the lineup brings the “most powerful” performance in Galaxy S history together with the company’s most intuitive AI features yet; Samsung Newsroom also published an early hands-on look at the new models during the event.
The S26 series adopts a refined, rounded design and a cohesive color palette — Cobalt Violet, Black, Sky Blue and White — that unifies the range. Samsung highlighted a slimmer, lighter build: the Galaxy S26 Ultra is 0.3 mm thinner than its predecessor and weighs 214 grams, a profile intended to improve portability while keeping a secure grip.
A major display addition on the S26 Ultra is Privacy Display, which limits side-angle viewing without a separate screen protector. Developed over more than five years, the feature keeps the screen clear head-on while blocking views from the sides, above and below; users can adjust privacy levels, apply the feature selectively for PINs or notifications, and assign it to the side-button double-press for quick access — useful on crowded commutes.
Galaxy AI powers a set of context-aware tools aimed at reducing friction across tasks. Now Nudge surfaces timely, relevant info so users need not switch apps — for example, it can check calendars and show conflicts when plans are discussed in a message. Circle to Search has evolved to support multi-element queries, and Samsung says its AI ecosystem now weaves together Bixby, Gemini and Perplexity so natural-language commands can change settings or recommend actions. Saying “My eyes feel tired,” for instance, prompts Bixby to suggest turning on Eye Comfort Shield.
Photography and editing receive significant AI upgrades. The S26 Ultra carries a 200-megapixel wide camera and a 50 MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom and 10x optical-quality zoom, plus a wider aperture for low-light clarity; Nightography and an AI image signal processor now extend to the front camera to preserve detail and natural skin tones. Photo Assist can remove unwanted objects, reconstruct missing elements and alter scenes (day to night or wardrobe changes), while Creative Studio turns simple text prompts into stickers, invitations, profile cards or wallpapers to speed content creation.
Samsung positions the Galaxy S26 series as a next step in its AI-phone roadmap, promising deeper personalization and workflow simplification alongside upgraded hardware performance.
