Empowering Democracy: Tamil Nadu’s Final Electoral Roll Reveals 5.67 Crore Voters After Major Cleanup of 70 Lakh Electors
Chengalpattu District Collector D. Sneha announced on Monday that the total number of registered voters in the district has reached 2,260,036. This figure comprises 1,104,512 men, 1,155,144 women, and 381 individuals identifying as third gender. The latest electoral roll, published two months ago, saw an addition of 190,010 names, while 15,465 names were removed.
The distribution of voters across various constituencies reflects a diverse demographic. In Sholinganallur, there are 536,991 voters, including 262,621 men, 274,254 women, and 116 from the third gender. Pallavaram follows closely, with a total of 330,217 voters made up of 161,197 men and 168,990 women, alongside 24 individuals from the third gender category.
Tambaram presents a similar composition, reporting 323,677 voters, which includes 157,580 men, 166,046 women, and 51 third-gender voters. Chengalpattu’s constituency has a voting population of 366,400, featuring 178,076 men, 188,267 women, and 57 individuals from the third gender.
In Tiruporur, the total voter count stands at 289,401, with 140,991 men, 148,359 women, and another 51 identifying as third gender. Cheyyur’s voter base comprises 202,055 individuals, including 100,103 men, 101,934 women, and 18 from the third gender category. Lastly, Maduranthakam accounts for 211,295 voters: 103,943 men, 107,288 women, and 64 third-gender voters.
Collector D. Sneha emphasized the importance of voter registration, stating that each voice matters in the democratic process. The recent updates to the electoral roll aim to enhance participation and ensure that every eligible voter has a chance to exercise their right. This effort highlights the ongoing commitment to inclusivity within the electoral system, allowing representation for all segments of the population.
As the elections draw near, the district administration urges citizens to verify their voter registration details and encourages those not yet registered to take part in shaping their community’s future.
