Experience the Excitement: NIT-T’s Pragyan Unveils Inspiring Programs and Captivating Exhibits!
Pragyan, the annual techno-managerial festival hosted by the National Institute of Technology – Tiruchirappalli (NIT-T), is making waves in its 22nd edition by spotlighting innovation and technical prowess. This year, student projects took center stage during the Open House exhibition organized by the Student Centre for Innovation in Engineering and Technology (SCIENT). One standout initiative comes from the Robotics and Machine Intelligence (RMI) team, which is developing a bionic arm that interprets muscle signals to create responsive movements. Tarun, the technology head at RMI, shared insights with The Hindu, stating, “Bionic arms and grippers are among the most sought-after devices in the medical field. Our prototype is more affordable than commercial models.”
RMI is also working on a compact remotely operated underwater vehicle, highlighting the diverse range of student innovations on display. Another prominent participant is the Orbit Club, NIT-T’s official rocketry team, focusing on the design and manufacturing of rocket airframes.
In the realm of startups, Dailykaam stands out with its on-demand workforce platform aimed at transforming employment across India. Founder and CEO Ayush Rajput explained, “We are attempting to organize our country’s vast informal workforce digitally, eliminating the traditional labor agency model that has been exploitative in nature. We plan to establish a branch in Tiruchirappalli soon.”
The Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), part of the Department of Atomic Energy, showcased various nuclear energy applications in plant biotechnology, medicine, and food preservation. Their pavilion featured models of several innovative projects, enriching the exhibition’s educational value.
Among the commercial exhibits, attendees gained insights into automotive technology at the Toyota stall, while ZeroWings Aerospace presented its ZW Skywash-a drone service designed for cleaning skyscraper windows, adhering to the Drone-as-a-Service subscription model. An additional highlight was an exhibit arranged by Janani Motorz, featuring 30 vintage two-wheelers that captured the attention of young visitors.
Since its inauguration on February 19, over 15,000 students have visited Pragyan, which offers a mix of competitive events scheduled to conclude on February 22. As the festival continues to drive excitement and engagement, it underscores NIT-T’s commitment to fostering innovative thinking and providing a platform for students to showcase their talents in engineering and technology. The variety of projects and startups on display not only demonstrates the ingenuity of young minds but also reflects the potential transformations in industry and society driven by innovation.
