Three men were killed during a pre-wedding ceremony in Dhule district, Maharashtra, after two groups clashed over a trivial dispute, police said. The deceased were identified as Suresh Gosavi, 50; Sahil Gosavi, 35; and Devendra Pawar, 36. Police arrested three people in connection with the incident, naming Kantilal Gosavi, 42, Jaswant Gosavi, 36, and their driver as the accused. According to officials, the accused fled toward Gujarat in a Maruti Brezza after the stabbing. Local residents were urged to block the Otabari ghat road and note vehicle registration details; police intercepted the car near the Gujarat–Navapur border and recovered a small knife. All three accused are reported to be residents of Songad in Gujarat.
In south Mumbai, a 39-year-old daily-wage labourer, Vipul Kamroti Karmakar, was killed following an argument with a friend over loud talking during a video call. Police said 19-year-old Ibrahim Kalu Shaikh became irate when Karmakar was speaking loudly to a woman on a video call and allegedly repeatedly struck Karmakar’s head against the pavement. Karmakar was taken to JJ Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival; Shaikh was later arrested.
In Betul district of Madhya Pradesh, neighbours discovered three family members dead and a five-year-old child critically injured after apparently breaking into a house in the afternoon. Police said 25-year-old Deepak Dhurve was found sitting near the bodies of his father, mother and younger brother; neighbours told investigators that Deepak had been mentally unwell for several years. The five-year-old nephew was rushed to hospital in critical condition. Authorities are probing the circumstances.
In Surat district, Gujarat, a 71-year-old farmer was killed on his farm in Bodhan village of Mandvi taluka in what officials suspect was a leopard attack. The incident occurred at about 1:45 pm, police said. A team led by the range forest officer attended the scene and an accidental death report has been registered as formal inquiries continue. (PTI)
