Unveiling the Stunning Rongara-o Footbridge: A Gateway to Adventure!
RONGARA: In South Garo Hills, the Garo Hills Youth Solidarity (GHYS) has raised concerns about the suspension footbridge funded by the World Bank under the CERC scheme for 2022-2023. The organization emphasized that the bridge has faced significant delays, which they believe negatively impacts local communities and students who rely on it for safe passage. GHYS expressed their apprehensions regarding the infrastructure, highlighting its relevance for students attending various educational institutions, including RMSA School Rongara, Rongara Government U.P. School, and others.
According to a GHYS representative, the instability of the bridge is a critical issue that threatens not just daily commutes but also educational opportunities. They noted that many students have already faced difficulties reaching schools due to the bridge’s condition. They further explained that the education of these students, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds, is at risk if the situation remains unaddressed. “The educational community has been calling for timely maintenance and prompt action on infrastructure to ensure our children can travel safely to school,” the representative stated.
The GHYS has also pointed out that ensuring proper infrastructure is essential, not only for safety but also for fostering an environment conducive to learning. They continue to advocate for the community’s needs and are seeking assistance to facilitate better management and upkeep of the footbridge. In conclusion, the GHYS urges local authorities and stakeholders to prioritize these infrastructural developments for the benefit of the community, especially for the future generation.
