Tragic Loss: Two Tinsukia Truckers Killed in Arunachal Gorge Accident
Dibrugarh: After four days of searching, two truck drivers from Tinsukia were found dead on Thursday along the perilous Roing-Hunli road near Mayodia in Arunachal Pradesh’s Dibang Valley district. Their truck had plunged approximately 70 meters into a deep gorge. The deceased have been identified as Manoj Kumar Shah (48) and Tanka Bahadur Chetri (34), employees of TCI, a local goods transport company.
Reports indicate that the two men left Tinsukia on Sunday morning, transporting construction materials to a business outlet in Anini, Arunachal Pradesh. Their truck was last tracked at 7:30 PM on Sunday while passing through the Shantipur check gate at the Assam-Arunachal border.
Initially, family members and the transport company believed their lack of communication was due to poor mobile reception. However, after days without contact, concerned relatives filed a missing person report at the Tinsukia police station on Wednesday evening. In response, Tinsukia SSP Mayank Kumar reached out to Dibang Valley SP Manish Shaurya, initiating a collaborative search operation early Thursday.
A police official involved in the search reported a breakthrough when a previously absent GPS signal suddenly appeared at a specific location. While the driver’s phone was turned off, the co-driver’s phone began ringing, a change from the previous days, yet they did not answer. This inconsistency raised suspicions of a possible accident.
