Assam Rifles and DRI Uncover Massive Yaba Drug Cache Worth Rs 39 Crore
Agartala: The Assam Rifles, in conjunction with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), have successfully seized 130,000 Yaba tablets valued at approximately ₹39 crore during a coordinated operation in Assam’s Cachar district. Three individuals were apprehended in connection with this incident.
The recovery was made following targeted intelligence regarding narcotics trafficking along National Highway 306. On the night of November 20, a joint team intercepted two Tata trucks as they passed through the district based on the received information.
A thorough search of the trucks uncovered the concealed Yaba tablets. The three suspects, all residents of Tripura, were taken into custody, and two mobile phones were confiscated from them.
The narcotics, vehicles, and other items seized have been surrendered to the DRI for further legal action. An extensive investigation is currently underway to trace the source of the drugs, their intended destination, and the trafficking network involved.
Yaba tablets, a synthetic drug composed of methamphetamine and caffeine, are commonly trafficked through the Northeastern region, often using national highways as transit routes.
