Ixigo, the popular travel booking platform, announced on Saturday it will fully refund the convenience and assured fees for passengers affected by recent IndiGo flight cancellations. This initiative aims to assist travelers amid significant operational disruptions faced by the airline.
The refund offer specifically applies to flights canceled by IndiGo between December 3 and December 8, 2025. In a statement, ixigo emphasized its commitment to helping passengers secure quick and complete refunds, as well as facilitating alternate bookings during this challenging period. “We understand how stressful flight disruptions can be. To support inconvenienced passengers during these difficult times, ixigo will refund all convenience fees and assured fees for customers whose IndiGo flights have been canceled,” the company said.
This announcement follows an alarming wave of flight cancellations by IndiGo, with more than 800 flights grounded on Saturday alone, following over 1,000 cancellations the previous day. The widespread disruptions have left thousands of travelers stranded across the country, primarily attributed to a pilot shortage resulting from the full implementation of new, stringent Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL). These regulations are designed to ensure adequate crew rest, further complicating the airline’s operations.
In Kolkata, specifically at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose (NSC Bose) International Airport, IndiGo canceled a total of 41 flights on Saturday. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) confirmed that among these cancellations, 21 were scheduled arrivals from various destinations, while 20 were departures to different cities.
IndiGo has responded to the crisis, assuring customers that it is prioritizing refund issues and working diligently to restore normal operations. “The number of cancellations on Saturday fell below 850, a notable decrease from Friday’s figures. We are focused on progressively reducing this number over the coming days,” stated IndiGo in a public announcement.
