Guwahati Readies for Post Malone: Updated Traffic and Parking Rules Unveiled
The Guwahati Traffic Police has implemented significant traffic restrictions and parking regulations in anticipation of the Post Malone Live Musical Concert on December 8 at the Veterinary College Playground in Khanapara. These measures aim to ensure public safety, mitigate congestion, and maintain clear access for emergency vehicles during this anticipated high-attendance event.
Starting from 10 AM on concert day, all commercial goods-carrying vehicles and slow-moving vehicles will face restrictions on key routes leading to Khanapara. This includes the GS Road section from the Sixmile underpass to Khanapara Rotary, the Sixmile–Balughat route via Jayanagar Chariali, and surrounding roads through Beltola and the APSC Point. Further restrictions will take effect at 3 PM, particularly around the Prison Gate Point near Vivanta Hotel, Koinadhara Point, KV Khanapara, and the service lanes along NH-27, remaining until the conclusion of the concert or as needed by authorities.
Parking will be strictly forbidden along busy corridors, specifically on GS Road between Sixmile Underpass and Khanapara Rotary, as well as stretches between Jayanagar Chariali, Tripura Gali, APSC Point, and sections of NH-27 up to Greenwood Resort. To accommodate concert-goers, designated parking areas have been established across Guwahati, including spots near Krishi Bhawan, Jyoti Vishnu Auditorium, the Veterinary College campus, Indian Oil Khanapara, Mukut Parking, Basistha Mandir Path, NERIM, and other locations depending on the chosen route. Special parking arrangements for two-wheelers are also available at specific sites such as Beltola Bihutoli, the Veterinary College campus, and Kirloskar Hybrid Engineering in Jayanagar.
Officials have assured that emergency services, including ambulances, fire trucks, vehicles carrying essential supplies, and school buses, will not be impacted by these traffic restrictions. Residents have been encouraged to utilize the Foot Overbridge near the Vivanta Hotel for safe crossings on GS Road. The Guwahati Traffic Police invites the public to follow its official social media accounts for real-time updates on traffic conditions and parking availability throughout the concert.
