Urgent Plea: CM Rangasamy Must Courageously Address Rising Public Fears Over Counterfeit Drug Manufacturing in Puducherry, Urges R. Siva
Opposition leader and DMK Puducherry convenor R. Siva has called on Chief Minister N. Rangasamy to address growing public concerns about alleged counterfeit drug production within the Union Territory. Following the recent seizure of drugs from illegal pharmaceutical operations in Puducherry, Siva emphasized the urgent need for transparency regarding the quality of medications being manufactured by these unauthorized firms.
In his statement, Siva voiced the apprehensions of citizens, who are questioning how such illegal manufacturing units managed to operate unnoticed by regulatory bodies. “The Chief Minister oversees the Health portfolio and must provide a clear explanation to the public regarding the manufacture and sale of counterfeit drugs. This situation raises serious questions about public health,” he asserted. He urged that authorities must inform the community about the status of medicines produced in these illicit establishments to restore confidence.
Siva also pointed to the responsibility of the AINRC-BJP government in disclosing the identities of individuals involved in these illegal activities and clarifying how they established operations in the UT. He insisted that those responsible for this illicit trade should face the full extent of the law. “The culprits must be given the maximum punishment,” he stated firmly.
The Opposition leader expressed hope that ongoing investigations by law enforcement agencies will be conducted impartially. He warned that if the government fails to hold the culprits accountable, the DMK will organize protests against its inaction.
