Indian Cricket Community Celebrates Kohli’s Remarkable Back-to-Back ODI Tons!
New Delhi, Dec 3: The Indian cricket community showered praise on Virat Kohli after he scored his second consecutive century during the second ODI against South Africa on Wednesday at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. Kohli maintained his outstanding form from Ranchi, where he had played a 120-ball innings, scoring 135 runs in the first ODI, leading India to victory. This latest performance marked his 84th international century and the 53rd of his ODI career.
Kohli shared a significant 195-run partnership for the third wicket with Ruturaj Gaikwad, who also reached a milestone with his first ODI century, scoring 105 runs. After Kohli’s remarkable performance, both current and former cricketers took to social media to express their admiration for the 37-year-old. Shreevats Goswami commented, “Virat’s this 100 is even better than the one in Ranchi. The pitch wasn’t as easy as these two made it look with the ball stopping a bit at times. He is an absolute run-scoring machine.”
Aakash Chopra emphasized Kohli’s impressive form by stating, “Back-to-back centuries. Beast mode activated.” Irfan Pathan added, “On Sundays, the king plays for sure, but on weekdays he plays with your plans. Brilliant 100 by Virat Kohli.” Legendary former cricketer Virender Sehwag remarked, “Virat Kohli has a unique addiction to centuries. We count centuries, while he treats it as part of his routine. Back-to-back centuries for the King. His 53rd ODI hundred proves that anything is possible with Virat. Ruturaj Gaikwad also played brilliantly, making batting look effortless.”
Mohammad Kaif weighed in, saying, “Without Kohli, cricket is nothing… pure vintage!” Spinner Yuzvendra Chahal expressed his reverence, stating, “Bow down to the King, Virat Kohli.” India concluded their innings on a high note, scoring 358/5, thanks to centuries from Gaikwad and Kohli, along with a solid unbeaten 66 from captain KL Rahul, setting a competitive target for the Proteas to pursue.
