A man has been arrested in connection with a devastating car bomb attack in Delhi last week, which claimed the lives of eight individuals and injured 20 others, according to authorities. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) revealed that the vehicle used in the attack was registered in the name of the suspect, who is a resident of Indian-administered Kashmir. Officials have charged him with conspiring alongside the alleged suicide bomber.
The explosion occurred near a metro station close to the historic Red Fort, a major landmark in the capital. Described as a “terrorist incident” by the government, the blast marks the first of its kind in the heavily secured city since 2011. Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed the vehicle responsible for the explosion was a white Hyundai i20. Footage from the scene displayed the charred remains of the car along with several damaged vehicles, including an autorickshaw and cycle rickshaws.

The NIA is actively pursuing leads and has confiscated another vehicle believed to belong to the suicide bomber for further investigation. To date, they have interviewed 73 witnesses, including those directly affected by the explosion. Law enforcement is also looking into possible connections with recent arrests of seven men in Indian-administered Kashmir and examining links to a recent seizure of 2,900 kilograms of explosives in a Delhi suburb.
