ULFA-I Cadre Surrenders in Tirap: A Turning Point in Security Operations
Assam Rifles, in collaboration with Tirap Police and Assam Police, successfully facilitated the surrender of an active ULFA-I cadre during a joint operation in Noglo Village, located in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district. Acting on specific intelligence gathered by the 4 Det ECIB and supported by technical confirmations from 36 LIC regarding the insurgent’s presence and movements, the team organized an operation that culminated in the voluntary surrender of ‘SS Pvt’ Kamal Akhun, also known as Vikas Mohanta, who is 23 years old and affiliated with the banned organization ULFA.
During the surrender, one 7.65 pistol, one magazine, and six live rounds of the same caliber were turned in. The individual who surrendered, along with the confiscated weapon and ammunition, has been handed over to Tirap Police for further legal processing and rehabilitation, adhering to established protocols.
This successful operation underscores the effective inter-agency coordination between Assam Rifles, Tirap Police, and Assam Police, highlighting their collective commitment to encouraging insurgents to reintegrate into society.
