ULFA Cadres Surrender: Major Shift in Security Dynamics in Arunachal Pradesh
An ULFA cadre voluntarily surrendered to security forces in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district on Saturday, according to official reports. This surrender was a result of precise intelligence inputs and technical monitoring regarding the movements of the insurgent. The operation involved a coordinated effort by the Assam Rifles, state police, and Arunachal Pradesh Police.
The individual who surrendered has been identified as self-styled private Kamal Akhan, also known as Vikas Mohanta, 23, and was associated with the banned outfit. During the surrender, he also submitted a 7.65 mm pistol along with one magazine and six rounds of ammunition.
Following the surrender, the individual, along with the weapon and ammunition, was handed over to the local police for further legal processing and rehabilitation in line with established procedures.
Officials emphasized that this successful operation showcases strong inter-agency collaboration among the Assam Rifles, state police, and Assam police, highlighting ongoing endeavors to facilitate the return of insurgents to mainstream society.
