Kejriwal’s Urgent Warning: No Tolerance for Negligence in Delhi’s Security After Red Fort Blast
Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of life in a car explosion that occurred on Monday evening near the Red Fort Metro Station. Reports indicate that at least eight people died, and 24 others sustained injuries in this unfortunate incident.
In a post on X, Kejriwal described the news of the explosion as “extremely alarming,” adding, “It is reported that some people have also lost their lives in it, which is extremely tragic.” He called for an immediate investigation into the cause of the explosion, urging the police and government to determine how it happened and if there might be a larger conspiracy at play. “Negligence regarding Delhi’s security cannot be tolerated,” he emphasized.
The explosion reportedly originated from a vehicle parked close to the Red Fort metro station, resulting in the destruction of multiple vehicles and the loss of at least eight lives. Footage released by the Chandni Chowk Traders’ Association highlighted the explosion’s devastation, with one clip showing a body on top of a vehicle, while another depicted a body on the roadway. Witnesses recounted seeing dismembered remains in the area surrounding the site of the explosion.
In response to the incident, Delhi has been placed on high alert. The Delhi Fire Services dispatched ten fire engines to the scene, while police established a secure perimeter. Authorities confirmed that the fire, which consumed six cars, two e-rickshaws, and one autorickshaw, was extinguished by 7:29 PM.
Additionally, a team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrived to investigate the situation further.
