Tripura BJP Lays Foundation for Upcoming Tribal Council Elections
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha met with senior BJP leaders, including state party president Rajib Bhattacharjee, on Sunday to assess the party’s organizational readiness for the upcoming elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) and civic bodies. This meeting occurred a day after Saha’s discussion with Tipra Motha Party (TMP) chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarma regarding the Tiprasa accord, which aims to promote the welfare and development of the state’s indigenous communities.
Following the meeting, Saha addressed reporters, emphasizing that the main focus was on enhancing the BJP’s organizational framework in light of the imminent elections. “We held deliberations on organizational matters as the TTAADC and municipal polls are nearing. The leaders discussed ways to further consolidate the party at the grassroots,” he stated.
Saha also refuted rumors suggesting that the meeting covered topics related to the tenure of the state BJP president or the alliance with TMP, clarifying, “There was no discussion on those matters.”
A senior party official revealed that the BJP has instructed its leaders to evaluate the party’s strength at the booth level across all 20 Scheduled Tribe-reserved Assembly constituencies. “Observers have already been appointed for all 28 TTAADC seats, currently under the administration of our ally TMP, to review the ground situation and identify areas for improvement,” the leader added.
The elections for the TTAADC are scheduled to take place early next year, marking a critical moment for the BJP as they prepare to strengthen their position in the region.
