Tragic Loss: Woman Head Constable on Bandobust Duty at Pasumpon Passes Away from Illness
A tragic incident unfolded on October 28, 2025, as Kalaivani, a 45-year-old head constable, died after falling ill while on duty in Pasumpon for Thevar Jayanthi. Serving at the Uthangarai All Women Police Station since her induction in 2009, Kalaivani was assigned to oversee security preparations at the helipad near the Muthuramalinga Thevar memorial in anticipation of Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan’s visit on October 30.
Following her shift on Tuesday night, Kalaivani returned to the Nadar Women’s Higher Secondary School in Kamuthi to rest. Unfortunately, she began experiencing severe symptoms, including a high fever and persistent cough. Her condition deteriorated rapidly, prompting immediate transportation to Kamuthi Government Hospital. Regrettably, medical personnel declared her dead upon arrival, with preliminary assessments suggesting a possible cardiac arrest as the cause.
The loss has deeply affected the local police force and community. Ramanathapuram District Police Superintendent G. Chandeesh, along with other officials, visited the hospital to express condolences and support for family and colleagues during this distressing time. The department is in mourning, reflecting on her dedicated service and the risks officers face in the line of duty.
Kalaivani’s untimely death raises concerns about the health and safety of police personnel, particularly during high-stress operations such as event security. With the rising demands placed on law enforcement, both physical and mental wellness must be prioritized to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
As the investigation continues, authorities encourage a review of health protocols for officers, especially during peak duty periods. This incident serves as a sobering reminder of the sacrifices made by those in uniform while serving their communities. As plans proceed for Vice-President Radhakrishnan’s visit, the local police are determined to honor Kalaivani’s memory through their continued commitment to duty.
The community extends its heartfelt condolences to her family and colleagues during this difficult time, underscoring the profound impact her service had on those she protected.
