Exciting Launch: 14th Commercial Coal Mine Auction and Digital Portals Unveiled
Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy virtually launched the 14th tranche of commercial coal mine auctions today in New Delhi. During the event, Mr. Reddy highlighted that the auction aims to enhance the ease of doing business, attract diverse investments, and encourage broader industry participation.
For the first time, the Coal and Mines Ministry is incorporating provisions for Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) within the auction framework. This initiative is designed to facilitate the extraction of deep-seated, unmineable coal reserves.
The Minister also introduced the Koyla Shakti Dashboard, which provides a user-friendly interface for tracking the coal supply chain from mine to market. This tool aims to improve coordination among coal companies, ports, railways, and end users through real-time data sharing. Additionally, the event saw the launch of the Coal Land Acquisition Management and Payment Portal (CLAMP), aimed at digitizing the land acquisition, compensation, and rehabilitation processes across coal public sector units.
The current round of auctions will present a range of fully explored and partially explored coal blocks, inviting participation from seasoned miners, new entrants, and technology-driven companies.
