EAM Jaishankar and Vietnam Strengthen Strategic Economic Ties
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with Vietnam’s Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung on October 27 during the East Asia Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The discussion centered on enhancing the strategic partnership and increasing bilateral economic cooperation between India and Vietnam. Jaishankar described this meeting as his first with FM Le, emphasizing their commitment to strengthen ties.
In a post on social media platform X, Jaishankar congratulated Le Hoai Trung and the Vietnamese people on their National Day, marking the 80th anniversary of the event, and noted the steady growth of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
During his visit, Jaishankar conveyed India’s national statement at the summit and met Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, along with Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi. The discussions with Motegi included plans to expand bilateral relations and implement a joint vision for the next decade of cooperation between India and Japan. Jaishankar expressed his satisfaction with the meeting, highlighting the depth and warmth of their Special Strategic and Global Partnership.
Additionally, Jaishankar held talks with Malaysia’s Foreign Minister Mohamad Haji Hasan, focusing on ongoing bilateral cooperation and the current situation in Myanmar. Malaysia is hosting the 47th ASEAN Summit, themed around ‘Inclusivity and Sustainability,’ and Jaishankar extended his best wishes for the success of both the ASEAN and East Asia Summits.
Through these meetings, Jaishankar reinforced India’s diplomatic ties within the region and highlighted the importance of collaboration in addressing global issues.
