Experience the Vibrant Essence of Nagaland’s Hornbill Festival in Delhi!
Delhi residents were introduced to the vibrant cultural heritage of Nagaland during the fourth edition of the two-day Autumn Festival held on October 25 at Nagaland House. This event served as a precursor to the much-anticipated 26th Hornbill Festival, which will take place from December 1 to 10 at Kisama Heritage Village in Nagaland.
Key figures at the festival included Nagaland’s Minister for Tourism and Higher Education, Temjen Imna, and Kevin Kelly, the Ambassador of Ireland to India. The festival showcased traditional music, dance performances, and local cuisine, offering attendees a lively experience of the northeastern state’s customs and artistic talents.
Ambassador Kelly, who has not yet visited Nagaland, expressed his admiration for the performances and shared his excitement for an upcoming trip. “It really reminds me of Ireland — green, rainy, with mountains and sunshine. I hope this visit will pave the way for cultural collaborations between Ireland and Nagaland,” he told reporters, hinting at future partnerships between Irish and Naga artists.
Temjen Imna thanked the Indian government for its support of the event and praised the enthusiastic involvement of Delhi residents. “Today’s festival was very successful. His Excellency Kevin Kelly was pleased with the arrangements, and we hope this will lead to collaboration in art and culture,” he noted.
Delhi’s Minister for Tourism, Art, and Culture, Kapil Mishra, also attended the festival, characterizing it as “a celebration of cultural diversity and national unity.” He added that Delhi plans to host further events to promote Naga culture in the future.
The Autumn Festival offered a window into Nagaland’s rich traditions as anticipation builds for the Hornbill Festival, which stands as one of the state’s premier cultural events, drawing tourists and artists from across India and around the world.
