After 30 Years of ‘DDLJ’ in Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir, The Legacy Lives On!
Residents of Assam are eagerly anticipating a film adaptation of “Rai Rai Binālak,” which is expected to be a historic cinematic experience. This excitement comes in the wake of the tragic death of popular singer Zubin Garg in Singapore, which has deeply affected the region. The film, set for release on October 31, began pre-booking on Friday evening, quickly filling seats in theaters across Assam within hours.
Among the various calls for action surrounding the film, one notable demand has caught widespread attention. Fans of Zubin have proposed that the film be given a permanent screening in theaters, likening it to the Maratha Mandir cinema in Mumbai. This theater is renowned for its continuous screening of Shah Rukh Khan’s “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,” which has been running for over three decades.
Suvankar Banerjee, a public relations advisor in Guwahati, commented, “If ‘DDLJ’ can run for more than 30 years at Maratha Mandir, then we should definitely consider a similar long-term screening for ‘Rai Rai Binālak’ here in Guwahati.”
In addition, Banerjee has urged Shyamanta Shekhar, the head of the Assam Film Corporation, to guarantee an indefinite screening of “Rai Rai Binālak” at the Aideu cinema hall.
