A 23-year-old bakery worker was shot and injured by an unidentified gunman during a musical night in Kumbi, located in Manipur’s Bishnupur district. The victim, Nongmaithem Alex, who resides in Ward number five of the Kumbi Municipal Council, was shot around 9 p.m. on October 22.
Alex, employed at a local bakery, sustained a bullet wound to his left calf. He was first transported to Bishnupur district hospital and later referred to Shija Hospital in Imphal for further treatment.
His mother, N. Bileswori Devi, has spoken to the media, revealing that she has filed a complaint with the police and is demanding swift justice for what she labeled a “heinous crime.”
The police have confirmed the shooting, noting that it occurred within the jurisdiction of the Phoubakchao Ikhai police station. Authorities are currently investigating the motive behind the attack. As of now, no person or group has taken responsibility for the incident.
