Tripura BJP Promises Swift Justice After Violent Civil Society Protests
Tripura BJP President Rajib Bhattacharjee has strongly condemned the Tripura Civil Society for allegedly inciting violence during a recent 24-hour strike, vowing to take strict action against those responsible. He visited GB Pant Hospital to meet the victims injured in attacks that reportedly occurred in Santirbazar village, located in the Salema block of Kamalpur sub-division, Dhalai district, following the strike called by the civil society.
Bhattacharjee remarked, “We have seen their heinous behavior. The issues they raised were discussed in the Assembly, and the Chief Minister has already provided a clear response. A tripartite agreement was made, and the final decision will come from Delhi. Nevertheless, such a heinous incident, disguised as protest, is painful and should be condemned.”
Among the victims were an engineer and a Block Development Officer (BDO), both of whom required urgent medical attention. Bhattacharjee, also a Rajya Sabha MP, confirmed his communication with Chief Minister Manik Saha, who is actively monitoring the situation. “Hooliganism in the name of civil society will not be tolerated,” he stated. “The Chief Minister has expressed his views on social media, condemning this incident. Our government will enforce strict punishment. No one involved in this violence will go unpunished. We stand firmly with the victims.”
He added that the central leadership has been informed about the developments, and a meeting will be conducted to address the issue further. Bhattacharjee expressed deep concern that this violence aims to disrupt the communal harmony that has prevailed during recent Durga Puja and Diwali celebrations.
