Foundation Stone Laid for New Building at Erode District Police Office
In a significant development for public safety infrastructure, a foundation stone was laid for a new building at the Erode District Police Office premises located at Panneerselvam Park. This initiative, announced by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, comes with a budget of ₹10.80 crore and is crucial to alleviating the chronic space constraints faced by the police department.
The event on Friday was attended by several key officials, including Corporation Commissioner Arpit Jain, Superintendent of Police A. Sujatha, District Revenue Officer S. Santha Kumar, and Erode Revenue Divisional Officer N. Sindhuja, alongside senior police personnel. The existing office, which operates on Gandhiji Road, has struggled to accommodate its growing operational needs, prompting the police to submit a formal proposal to the government for additional infrastructure.
The construction project will occupy 28,455 square feet of the total land area of 31,921 square feet available at the site. The new building is set to feature a ground floor, which will include a parking area and a portico, alongside three additional floors designed for efficient police operations. The Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation Limited, in collaboration with Chennai-based Johnsun Engineering Contractors, has been awarded the contract for the project.
Officials have expressed optimism that the new building will significantly enhance the functionality of the police department, allowing for improved service delivery and more seamless operations. This initiative reflects a broader commitment to modernizing public safety facilities across the state, ensuring that law enforcement agencies are well-equipped to meet the needs of the community.
