India’s Young Shuttlers Shine in Pre-Quarterfinals at BWF World Juniors 2025!
India’s top young badminton players have advanced to the pre-quarterfinals of the BWF World Junior Championships 2025, currently taking place in India. Today’s matches were crucial in determining their progression in the tournament.
In the Girls’ Singles, star player Tanvi Sharma, the top seed, showcased her skills by defeating Indonesia’s Oei Winarto with a score of 15-12, 15-7. She is now set to compete against Sri Lanka’s fourth-seeded Ranithma Liyanage in the next round. Meanwhile, eighth seed Unnati Hooda had a relatively smoother match, triumphing over Alice Wang from the USA with scores of 15-8 and 15-5. In contrast, tenth-seed Rakshitha Sree Ramraj faced a challenging battle, initially losing to Singapore’s Aaliyah Zakaria before rallying back to win the next two games, with the final scores being 11-15, 15-5, and 15-8. Both Tanvi and Rakshitha are now preparing for tough contests ahead.
On the Boys’ Singles front, India’s hopes are pinned on Gnana Dattu TT, who achieved a significant victory by overcoming a higher-ranked compatriot, Suryaksh Rawat, in three games, with scores of 11-15, 15-6, and 15-11.
In mixed doubles, Bhavya Chhabra and Vishakha Toppo also progressed to the next stage after defeating Denmark’s Aske Romer and Jasmin Willis, winning 15-13, 15-11. These victories bolster India’s chances for medals in their home tournament, keeping the national hopes alive as the competition intensifies.
