Conservative influencer Nick Sortor announced that Attorney General Pam Bondi has initiated an investigation into the Portland Police Bureau following his recent arrest for alleged second-degree disorderly conduct during a clash involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). His arrest came after the Portland Police Bureau reported monitoring a protest on the evening of the incident, which included conflicts among participants, according to Fox News.

In a post on X, Sortor stated, “Attorney General Pam Bondi has ORDERED a full investigation, led by Asst. AG Harmeet Dhillon, of the Portland Police Bureau, following my wrongful arrest last night. Bondi confirmed to me personally that she would be overseeing this matter, and I’m incredibly grateful to her for doing so. The Trump DOJ WILL NOT allow Portland Police to continue to do the bidding of Antifa.”

Sortor expressed shock at the turn of events, recounting that he was unexpectedly attacked by individuals associated with Antifa. “All of a sudden, you know, I’m being jumped by Antifa thugs. I get back up, I stumble away and go back toward cops where I think, well, at least that’ll be a safer place for me… never suspected that I was going to be the target of the arrest,” he told Fox News after his release. He emphasized his confusion, noting that officers did not initially inform him of his arrest or the nature of the charges against him, leaving him in the dark for over an hour.

He criticized the Antifa presence at the protest, suggesting that they opposed the First Amendment rights until those rights were exercised against them. “I have every right to stand out here and film them. We saw them get in the way of federal agents trying to come out of the ICE facility and pushing up against ICE agents. And what happens? They get maced. Okay, so I go in, and I film that aftermath,” Sortor added.

In response to the incident, the Portland Police Bureau clarified its role, stating, “At about 8:09 pm, PPB Dialogue Officers (DLOs) observed two men fighting near the ICE building driveway.” The DLOs called for additional resources, which were en route when the fight concluded, leaving one participant knocked to the ground, yet conscious and not requesting medical assistance. Following their involvement, both individuals were detained by federal law enforcement but were later released without expressing a desire to file a police report. The bureau emphasized the continuation of its monitoring of the area and its response to ongoing altercations.
