Actor Randeep Hooda, co-owner of the Prithviraj Yodhas archery team along with his wife Lin Laishram, emphasizes the significance of archery in fostering values such as focus, patience, and resilience. Their team represents Delhi in the inaugural Archery Premier League (APL), a ten-day event scheduled from October 2 to October 12, 2025, at the Yamuna Sports Complex.
In a recent conversation, Hooda expressed pride in having the Prithviraj Yodhas based in Delhi, stating, “For me, when it comes to sports, it connects me to my roots in Haryana, where sports have always been an integral part of our lives from childhood.” He highlighted the rich sporting culture he grew up in, mentioning traditional sports like wrestling, hockey, and boxing, and how those narratives have instilled a spirit of discipline and dedication in him. Hooda noted the resemblance between these values and those found in archery, which his wife Lin is closely associated with.
Lin Laishram sees this league as more than just a new venture; it’s a return to the sport that shaped her youth. Inspired by her father, who held the position of President of the Archery Association in Manipur, she started archery at the age of ten. Lin has a strong competitive background, having trained at the Tata Archery Academy, where she secured multiple medals and the Junior National Championship title in 1998. Despite an injury that curtailed her competitive career, her passion for archery has remained steadfast.
Dr. Vikas Garg, the Owner of Prithviraj Yodhas and Chairman of the Ebix Group, remarked that the Archery Premier League is a transformative step for Indian archery. It aims to evolve the sport into a dynamic and fan-friendly endeavor, promoting talent development across various levels. He emphasized their commitment as co-owners to create an environment that fosters excellence and innovation while embracing India’s rich sporting traditions.
The Archery Premier League 2025 is organized by the Archery Association of India (AAI), under the leadership of former Member of Parliament and AAI President Shri Arjun Munda, along with AAI Secretary Shri Virendra Sachdeva. The league has garnered support from World Archery, World Archery Asia, and the Sports Ministry of India, signaling a promising future for archery in the country.
