Gautam Adani Calls on Team to Accelerate Growth as SEBI Eases Hindenburg Ban
New Delhi, Sep 22: Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani has called on employees to enhance innovation and propel advancements in energy, logistics, and infrastructure, now that the scrutiny from the Hindenburg case is over. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has dismissed allegations made by the U.S.-based short-seller, Hindenburg Research, which had long overshadowed the conglomerate.
In a letter to the team, Adani emphasized the importance of building for lasting impact rather than immediate recognition. “We must build not for today’s applause, but for a legacy that endures for decades. Headlines fade, but what we create must leave its mark on history,” he wrote.
He noted that the “cloud that had hung over us for more than two years has been lifted,” following SEBI’s thorough investigation, which found no merit in the Hindenburg report from January 2023. The ruling stated that “the matter has been considered holistically, and the allegations made against the Adani Group are not established.”
Adani characterized the allegations as part of a “targeted, multidimensional assault,” praising employees for sustaining operational progress in the face of global scrutiny. “This attack was never just a market event,” he remarked.
He commended the workforce for their commitment to significant infrastructure projects, despite the reputational and legal challenges the group faced. “While the world debated about us, our ports expanded, transmission lines stretched farther, and renewable projects continued to green the world,” he stated. “You proved that execution under pressure is the truest test of character, and that the Adani character is simply unbreakable.”
In his letter, Adani detailed the Group’s commitment to integrity, innovation, and long-term value creation. He urged employees to embrace transformation, understanding that the future will advance whether or not they choose to shape it. “Either we shape the future into what we dream, or we are shaped by the future into what we fear,” he asserted.
He expressed heartfelt gratitude to employees for their steadfast support during the crisis. “I know the quiet anxieties your families felt and the doubts you may have experienced,” he said, acknowledging their contributions amid challenges.
Describing the controversy as an ‘agnipariksha’, he suggested that every crisis strengthens resolve. He warned that more tests would come but encouraged the team to find confidence in their recent performance.
This upheaval shook international investors and led to multiple investigations initiated by SEBI. Following Hindenburg ceasing operations in January 2025 under controversial circumstances, lingering doubts remained until the regulator’s latest findings cleared the group.
Despite initial credit downgrades and skepticism from investors in early 2023, the Adani Group has since regained its market standing, supported by strategic investments from global firms such as GQG Partners and the Abu Dhabi-based International Holding Company. The reduction of debt and a return to core business expansion also contributed to this resurgence.
As of Monday, shares of Adani Enterprises Ltd have surged over 80%, outperforming the Nifty 50 Index. “Let history remember the past three years as the spark that built a greater Adani,” he reflected. He concluded his message encouraging employees to embody “courage, conviction, and a promise we all kept to our motherland, Bharat,” signing off with ‘Satyameva Jayate, Jai Hind.’
