Manipur DGP Champions Peace, Inspires Youth to Embrace Non-Violence
Manipur’s Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Singh has reaffirmed the state police’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace and stability in the region. In a recent statement, Singh highlighted the significant surrender of over 1,000 arms, ammunition, and explosives, following an appeal from the Governor. He described this development as a positive step towards reconciliation.
“The Manipur Police remains resolute in our mission to restore stability, protect lives, and uphold the rule of law,” Singh stated. He emphasized that these efforts signify a shift towards reconciliation, bolstered by firm enforcement and responsible dialogue. In his address, he urged the youth to renounce violence and commit themselves to serving the state and the nation.
Despite facing ongoing challenges, the DGP noted that the Manipur Police, in conjunction with the Central Armed Forces and other agencies, have carried out robust operations to recover thousands of looted arms as well as considerable quantities of ammunition and explosives from both hill and valley districts. “In recent months, amidst considerable adversity, the Manipur Police, alongside Central Armed Forces and allied agencies, have undertaken numerous decisive actions to restore law and order. These efforts have led to the recovery of thousands of looted arms and substantial amounts of ammunition and explosives,” he said.
Additionally, Singh highlighted critical measures being implemented to maintain law and order, including regular patrolling, securing vulnerable areas to prevent clashes, enhancing border security along the Myanmar border, and deploying special task forces in all districts to detect and combat illegal immigration. “Special task forces have been established in all district police to detect, identify, and take appropriate legal action against illegal immigrants,” he assured.
