Television actor Ram Kapoor recently highlighted that certain stars in the TV industry have achieved such immense success that their future generations can live worry-free. However, one actress who dramatically shifted from acting to entrepreneurship is Aashka Goradia, who has built a remarkable business valued at ₹1,200 crores.
Aashka began her television career in 2002 with “Achanak 37 Saal Baad.” She gained significant fame in 2003 through Ekta Kapoor’s show “Kusum” and went on to appear in popular series such as “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi,” “Sindoor Tere Naam Ka,” and “Naagin.” Besides fictional roles, she participated in various reality shows, including “Bigg Boss 6,” “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4,” “Nach Baliye 8,” and “Khatron Ke Khiladi 4.” Her last appearances on television were in the show “Daayan” and the reality program “Kitchen Champion 5” in 2019. In 2021, she chose to leave acting to focus entirely on her business pursuits.
In 2018, a year before her departure from acting, Aashka co-founded “Renee Cosmetics” with Priyank Shah and Ashutosh Valani, the creators of the men’s grooming brand Beardo. Starting with an initial investment of only ₹50 lakhs, Renee was launched as a digital-first brand, initially selling exclusively online. It quickly became available on major e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, Nykaa, and Myntra, later expanding into offline retail.
The pricing strategy for Renee’s products targeted women in tier 1 and tier 2 cities, enabling it to compete with established brands like Lakmé, Maybelline, MyGlamm, and Sugar. Within the first two years, the brand generated ₹100 crores in revenue. By 2024, Renee Cosmetics is expected to be valued between ₹1,200 to ₹1,400 crores after successfully raising ₹100 crores in funding.
Aashka’s personal achievements are equally impressive. She moved to Mumbai from Gujarat at the age of 16, initially living as a paying guest before renting. Remarkably, she bought her first house at 23, which she considers a significant milestone in her life.
