Modi’s Bold Move: Armed Forces Empowered with Superior Weaponry Over Pakistan
New Delhi: The one-month mark of Operation Sindoor was celebrated on June 7, highlighting significant advancements for India’s armed forces. The Defense Ministry has granted the military the authority to acquire long-range missiles, artillery shells, kamikaze drones, and air-to-air missiles, all of which are designed to surpass the capabilities of Chinese missiles currently in Pakistan’s arsenal.
According to military experts, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has made considerable progress during the operation, including the downing of four Chinese-made fighter jets belonging to Pakistan. Two larger aircraft, likely a C-130 J and a SAAB 2000 Early Warning System, were also reported downed.
A report from the Hindustan Times indicates that two F-16 fighter planes were partially damaged in the IAF’s missile strikes. More than 11 airbases, including those at Sargodha, Rafiq, Jacobabad, and the Noor Khan base in Chaklala, were targeted. It was noted that India’s Rafale jets, S-400 missile systems, and M777 howitzers performed effectively during the operations, with the Russian air defense systems successfully intercepting three enemy aircraft.
Further reports confirmed that India managed to destroy a Chinese LY-80 fire radar, two AN TPQ-43 US radar units, and a Chinese HQ-9 radar system during the May 10 attack on Chaklala. Intelligence assessments revealed that Pakistan possesses four HQ-9 radars, contrary to earlier beliefs that only two were operational. This radar is comparable to Russia’s S-300 air defense system, while the Pakistan Army employs the PL-15 missile, which has a range of 180 kilometers.
In a tactical maneuver, Pakistan combined a 250-kilometer range HQ-9 air defense system with a 150-kilometer range unit at locations including Chaklala and Malir Cantonment near Karachi, aiming for a surprise against the IAF. During the operation, the IAF reportedly launched 19 BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles in addition to a similar number of French SCALP subsonic cruise missiles targeting Pakistani airbases.
Pakistan, deploying JF-17 fighter jets, retaliated with CM-400 AKG supersonic missiles. However, these attempts were ineffective. Turkey-manufactured YIHA loitering munitions were also employed but were successfully jammed by India’s electronic warfare systems. Many of the missiles either missed their targets or were intercepted by Indian defenses. Additionally, Pakistan launched FATAH-1 rockets, which similarly failed to reach their objectives or were intercepted.
