Empowered Young Artists Inspire Change: Schoolchildren Spread a Vibrant ‘Green’ Message Through Their Stunning Paintings
Winners of the painting and elocution competitions proudly posed for a photograph with O. Naresh Kumar, CEO of Symbiosis Technologies, and D.S. Varma, Director of AMNS, at the Visakha Public Library in Visakhapatnam on Thursday. This event, organized by The Hindu Future India Club (FIC) and AMNS, celebrated World Environment Day by encouraging students from different schools to express their creativity and awareness about environmental issues.
During the event, speakers emphasized the vital role individuals play in environmental protection, advocating for a gradual phase-out of plastic products. The children’s artwork showcased bright, imaginative interpretations of collective responsibility in safeguarding the environment.
Sailatha Behara, a parent of participant B. Prathyeka from Delhi Public School, shared her enthusiasm, stating, “My daughter won first prize in the painting competition. Events like these truly give wings to children’s creativity and help them hone their talents. I believe it was a wonderful experience for all participants.”
O. Naresh Kumar highlighted the need for more sustainable practices, asserting, “The government should aim to establish at least one model green building in every district. Currently, there isn’t even one green building fully compliant with mandatory eco-standards in the State.” He also urged that tax exemptions for electric vehicles could further promote sustainable initiatives. Kumar commended The Hindu and AMNS for fostering such enriching experiences for young minds.
D.S. Varma, AMNS Head of HR and Administration, noted the impact of the partnership between The Hindu and AMNS, sharing, “Together, we have successfully planted nearly 100,000 saplings to date.”
