Pakyong Airport: Exciting News on Its Operational Status Ahead!
PAKYONG, Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, visited Pakyong district on Friday to assess various development initiatives in agriculture, education, and health sectors. The minister conducted inspections of schools and hospitals in the area.
During the visit, Margherita highlighted concerns regarding the dormant Greenfield airport in Pakyong, which has not seen flight operations for nearly two years. He noted, “There are some technical issues… the officials of the Airport Authority provided the current status. We must thank the Prime Minister for establishing this important airport, and I believe all technical challenges will be addressed by experts alongside discussions involving the Minister for Civil Aviation and local government. I am optimistic that the airport will become operational soon.”
Margherita acknowledged that despite being a new district, Pakyong-just approaching its third anniversary-has shown significant progress under the leadership of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay. He expressed confidence in the district’s development across multiple sectors, stating, “I have reviewed numerous departments, from agriculture to education to health and civil aviation, and I see that nearly all sectors are reaching their goals. I am hopeful that Pakyong will emerge as one of the best districts in the coming years. We are witnessing effective implementation of the plans and schemes set forth by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
Additionally, the minister commented on the anticipated resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Nathu La this year, expressing a commitment to the overall development and preservation of cultural heritage. He said, “We are striving for both development and the safeguarding of our culture and heritage. The Mansarovar Yatra is a vital aspect of our 1,000-year-old heritage.”
