On Instagram, Nigam defended himself, asserting, “I am not a young lad to take humiliation from anyone. At 51 years old, I am entitled to take offense when someone as young as my son threatens me directly in front of thousands.” He noted the irony in being criticized for being too dismissive of a language he holds in high regard, especially considering that Kannada is his second language in a professional context.
