Empowered Girls Shine Bright with Extraordinary Performances
Aizawl: In a significant announcement, the Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE) declared the results of the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations on May 6, 2025. The examination season concluded with a commendable overall pass percentage of 81.10%, reflecting the students’ dedication and hard work.
At the MBSE office in Chaltlang, it was revealed that the Arts stream achieved a pass rate of 81.13%, while the Science stream led with an impressive 85.63%. The Commerce stream, despite presenting some challenges, secured a respectable pass rate of 74.42%. This year witnessed a notable trend, as female students outnumbered their male counterparts by 1,015 in the examinations, spotlighting the growing participation of women in education.
Highlighting the exemplary performances, a total of 701 students were awarded Distinction, while 3,250 achieved First Division, 3,970 secured Second Division, and 1,896 received Third Division classifications. Noteworthy among these students, all stream toppers were female. Lalrammawii Tochhawng from Mount Carmel School topped the Arts stream with an impressive score of 471 out of 500. In Science, Cynthia Lalhlupuii Shangpliang from St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School claimed the top position with a remarkable 477 marks. Meanwhile, Kristin Laldinpuii Ralte of Oikos Higher Secondary School led the Commerce stream with a score of 470.
Cynthia’s exceptional academic journey is further highlighted by her previous success as the top rank holder in the 2023 MBSE HSLC examination, where she achieved a score of 485. Her continuous excellence showcases the dedication and hard work that defines many students in the region.
Among 207 schools offering the Arts stream, an impressive 46 achieved a perfect 100% pass rate. In stark contrast, two schools in the same stream reported no successful candidates. The Science stream performed exceptionally well, with all 69 participating schools recording 100% pass rates. However, the Commerce stream faced mixed results, as two out of 29 schools experienced a zero pass rate.
These results not only emphasize the strength of education in Mizoram but also illustrate the ongoing efforts to enhance academic performance across all streams. With the gender disparity and remarkable achievements, the MBSE’s announcement serves as a motivator for both students and educators, indicating the bright future of education in the region.
