Shockwave: C.I.A. Dismisses Top Doctor Amid Controversial Far-Right Pressure
In a recent lawsuit, Dr. Terry Adirim, the former Director of the C.I.A.’s Center for Global Health Services, claims she was dismissed following pressure from far-right activists. Hired late last year, Dr. Adirim became a target for Ivan Raiklin, a vocal critic of Covid-19 vaccinations, who labeled her the “architect” of the Pentagon’s vaccine mandate. This mandate, ordered by Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III in 2021, aimed to vaccinate all military personnel.
Dr. Adirim, 61, previously served in a senior medical position within the Defense Department, recommending mandatory Covid-19 vaccinations, a decision she believes saved countless military lives. Her advice followed a historic precedent set by George Washington, who mandated smallpox vaccinations for the Continental Army.
Raiklin, a former Green Beret and self-styled ally of Donald Trump, accused Dr. Adirim of perpetrating “genocide and mass mutilation” due to her involvement in the vaccine mandate. Appearing on Roseanne Barr’s podcast, he criticized her, while simultaneously publishing a “Deep State Target List” that included her name. Raiklin also suggested, in a now-deleted post, that Dr. Adirim was strategically positioning herself within the C.I.A., a concern he voiced to Trump appointee John Ratcliffe.
Raiklin’s accusations coincided with activities by Laura Loomer, a known far-right conspiracy theorist, who reportedly visited the White House, urging the dismissal of certain national security officials. The lawsuit suggests a connection between Loomer’s actions and Raiklin’s influence, although direct evidence of their collaboration is absent. However, Raiklin did express his support for Loomer after her visit to the Oval Office, stating, “For the record, I respect Laura Loomer.”
Dr. Adirim’s termination was reportedly communicated to her on April 4th, although she received no explanation from her supervisor. Her firing, confirmed by Breitbart News days later, is set to occur just short of her eligibility for full federal retirement benefits, further escalating the controversy. The lawsuit filed by her attorney, Kevin Carroll, argues that Dr. Adirim’s dismissal was a result of extremist pressures rather than professional shortcomings.
Despite multiple attempts to obtain comments, neither Raiklin nor Loomer responded. Meanwhile, Dr. Adirim’s firing highlights ongoing tensions surrounding government workers perceived as disloyal by far-right factions. Her contract with the C.I.A., signed on December 11, includes a clause allowing termination with 30 days’ notice for any reason, a point utilized by the agency to justify her dismissal.
The C.I.A. has refrained from commenting on the lawsuit or the specific circumstances of Dr. Adirim’s termination. This development underscores the complex intersection of public health policies, political extremism, and national security, reigniting debates on the influence of conspiracy theorists within governmental circles.
This case exemplifies the challenges faced by those implementing controversial health measures during the pandemic and highlights the sustained impact of extremist pressures on U.S. defense and intelligence personnel. As the lawsuit progresses, it may shed light on the extent to which political motivations interfere with the nation’s security and health mandates.
