BJP Unleashes Fury on Congress Over ‘Missing’ PM Poster Controversy!
On Tuesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sharply criticized the Congress party for a now-deleted social media post that depicted Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “missing” in the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. The post, shared on Congress’s X handle, featured an image titled “zimmedari ke samay Gayab” (missing at a time of taking responsibility) showing only a pair of kurta-pyjamas and shoes without the PM’s body.
The BJP quickly responded on X, alleging that the Congress was echoing extremist sentiments with its “headless kurta” image and suggesting that the party had devolved into a “Muslim League 2.0” — characterized as divisive and desperate. They emphasized that since PM Modi has recently addressed issues concerning Pakistan, even official handles from Islamabad have begun to mimic these calls for violence, exposing what the BJP deemed a jihadist mentality.
In the fallout of the post, Congress chose to remove it after facing backlash. BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh questioned whether the Congress had effectively become a “PR wing” for Pakistan, asserting that in times of national distress, the party appears fragmented and disconnected from national interests. “Whose side is the Congress on?” Chugh pressed in a statement reflecting the party’s growing frustration.
BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia escalated the rhetoric further by branding Congress as “Lashkar-e-Pakistan Congress.” He attributed the controversial posts to Rahul Gandhi, claiming they not only tarnished India’s image but also deeply offended its citizens. Bhatia argued that such actions were symptomatic of Congress’s broader agenda to undermine India during a period of vulnerability, positing that their alignment with the problematic ideology of “Sar tan se juda” mirrors both Pakistan’s mindset and the Congress’s own.
This incident underscores the heightened political sensitivities surrounding national security issues and the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan. The BJP’s sharp rebuttal draws attention to the significance of political accountability in moments of crisis and illustrates the use of social media as a battleground for political narratives in contemporary Indian politics.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how the Congress will respond to such accusations and whether this incident will affect its standing in the eyes of the electorate. The BJP appears poised to leverage this controversy in the context of its broader narrative on national security, framing itself as the guardian of the nation against perceived threats from both within and beyond its borders.
