Anti-Naxal Operation Turns Fatal: Brave Jawan Sacrificed, Arms and Hope Seized in the Line of Duty
Jharkhand Encounter Leaves One Security Forces Personnel Dead, Six Naxals Arrested
A high-stakes search operation in West Singhbhum district’s Jaraikela police station took a deadly turn when two security forces personnel were injured in an encounter with Naxalites. Unfortunately, one of them, Sunil Dhan from the Cobra Battalion, succumbed to his injuries while being airlifted to Ranchi for further medical treatment. The other injured personnel, Vishnu Saini from the Jharkhand Jaguar, is receiving treatment at a hospital.
The incident occurred during a joint search operation conducted by Cobra Battalion, CROF, Jharkhand Jaguar, and Chaibasa police forces. The operation aimed to neutralize the Naxal presence in the area, but it took a tragic turn when the security forces personnel were injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast. The IED was allegedly planted by the Naxalites.
The Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashutosh Shekhar confirmed the incident and expressed sympathies to the families of the injured personnel. SP Kumar Gaurav, in charge of the search operation in Latehar district, reported a separate success, announcing the arrest of six Naxals, including two Subzonal commanders of the TPC (Total Revolution Communist Party) Maoist organization.
The arrested Naxals were found possessing weapons, including four rifles, one automated revolver, and a motorbike. Additionally, over a thousand live cartridges and Naxal literature were seized from the arrested individuals. The search operation is ongoing, with security forces working to dismantle the Naxal presence in the region.
These developments come at a time when the Jharkhand police have been intensifying their efforts to combat Naxalite activities in the state. The success of the late operation may serve as a boost to the authorities’ morale, but it also underscores the significant challenges faced by the security forces in their fight against Naxalism. As the search operation continues, the authorities will undoubtedly remain vigilant to prevent such incidents from recurring and to bring the remaining Naxalites to justice.
