Gurgaon Woman Dies in Bike Car Collision, Parents Blame Training Academy

A 28-year-old woman, Shomita Singh, died on Sunday after her bike collided with a Hyundai Verna car on Leopard Trail Road in Gurgaon. Singh, a bike enthusiast, was part of a group of nine women bikers traveling from Noida’s Sector 135 to Leopard Trail Cafe when the accident occurred. The police have seized the car and identified its driver, and the investigation is ongoing.

According to Kuldeep Sharma, the co-founder of Lets Ryde training academy, which Singh was training with to become a professional biker, the accident was a hit-and-run case. Sharma claims that Singh was wearing her safety gear, including a helmet, and had received proper training. He also claimed that the car was being driven rashly, which led to the collision.

The group of bikers, including Singh, was riding together, with one woman stating that she was ensuring Singh was riding in the right lane and that it was a matter of collective responsibility and safety. This contradicts the claims made by Sharma, who stated that Singh was an experienced rider with a license and had been training with the academy since Holi.

The police are investigating the case, but have not yet determined whether the training academy bears any responsibility. The investigating officer, Naveen Kumar, stated that the academy’s involvement would be determined after the investigation is complete. Meanwhile, Singh’s parents have filed a complaint with the Badshahpur police, seeking action against Lets Ryde.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for drivers and bikers to adhere to traffic rules. It also highlights the need for training academies to provide adequate instruction and guidance to their students.
