Samsung’s One UI 7 update is finally here, bringing a range of new AI-powered features, a redesigned user interface, and performance enhancements to eligible devices. The update, which runs on Android 15, will start rolling out to Galaxy S and Z series devices from today, with older devices expected to follow in the coming weeks.
The update introduces a host of AI features, including support for writing tools that allow users to summarize content, check grammar and spellings, and format notes into bullet points. Additionally, Samsung is adding support for call transcripts in 20 languages, including English (India) and Hindi. The company has also enhanced Google Gemini’s integration, enabling users to issue voice commands for specific tasks, such as finding pet-friendly restaurants nearby.
One of the most notable changes in the update is the redesigned home screen, which features improved widgets and an updated lock screen. This allows users to customize their devices more intuitively, with the ability to match the color of their wallpaper to the notification tray and homescreen icons. The camera application has also been overhauled, with reorganized controls for a clearer layout and simplified manual settings for pro video modes.
The update also introduces the “Now Bar,” a new tool on the lock screen that allows users to access frequently used apps, such as a music player or stopwatch, without unlocking their device. This feature is reminiscent of Apple’s Dynamic Island, and is designed to provide quick access to essential functions.
Samsung has also given the UI a significant overhaul, adding new animations and redesigning icons to improve the overall user experience. The update is designed to make the One UI 7 more fluid and faster, with improved app opening times and a more streamlined layout.
To download the One UI 7 update, eligible devices can navigate to the Settings app, click on Software Update, and select Download and Install. Prior to the release of the stable build, Samsung also released a beta version in March. It’s recommended to ensure the device has enough battery and is connected to a WiFi network for faster downloads.
Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, Tab S10, and Tab S9 series will receive the update, with older devices expected to follow in the coming weeks.
