India Cracks Down on Illicit Border-Crossing: Three Bangladeshi Nationals Deported from Assam
Assam Steps Up Crackdown on Illegal Migration
Assam authorities have apprehended and deported three Bangladeshi nationals who had illegally entered Indian territory through the Sribhumi district. The development was confirmed by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday. The trio, identified as Noorjan Begum, Md Ilyat Ali, and Md Rakib Shaikh, were detained by local law enforcement and subsequently repatriated to Bangladesh following due process.
Sarma took to social media to announce the latest crackdown, posting: “@sribhumipolice continues its crackdown on infiltration. Three Bangladeshi nationals apprehended. All of them have been promptly pushed back across the border.” The Chief Minister reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on infiltration, highlighting that over 325 illegal entrants from Bangladesh have been identified and deported in the past seven months alone.
The Assam government has intensified its operations to maintain border integrity and ensure the state’s security, as part of a broader policy aimed at achieving an infiltration-free Assam. Officials confirmed that the Border Security Force (BSF) has significantly increased surveillance and patrolling efforts along the 1,885-km-long India-Bangladesh border in the Northeast, particularly in light of recent internal unrest in the neighboring country.
Sarma’s administration has been meticulous in its efforts to curb illegal migration, with a focus on maintaining the state’s borders and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens. The latest deportation is a testament to the state’s commitment to addressing the issue. As authorities continue to crack down on infiltration, the people of Assam can expect a safer and more secure environment.
With ongoing efforts to enhance border security and increase surveillance, the Assam government is working tirelessly to prevent illegal migration and ensure a smooth and peaceful existence for its citizens. As the state continues to tackle this critical issue, the repatriation of the three Bangladeshi nationals serves as a welcome development in the fight against infiltration.
