Urgent Call to Action: Transform Lives and Elevate Living Standards for the Impoverished, Minister Urges District Officials
In a bid to boost economic growth and enhance tourism, Minister for Health and Family Welfare Y. Satya Kumar Yadav, alongside NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha and other officials, conducted an inspection of Kondapalli Fort following the District Review Committee meeting on Saturday, March 29, 2025. The meeting, which took place near Ibrahimpatnam in NTR district, focused on strategies to increase the district’s per capita income and Gross District Domestic Product (GDDP), aligning with government developmental goals.
Minister Yadav emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among district officials, public representatives, and voluntary organizations to achieve these objectives. Reflecting on the current fiscal year, he shared that NTR district’s per capita income reached ₹3,53,150, positioning it third in the state. The goal for the upcoming year is ambitious, targeting a rise to ₹4,17,412. In terms of sectoral growth, the district aims for a 15.94% increase in agriculture, 18.57% in the industrial sector, and a notable 22.22% in trade, hotels, and restaurants.
Highlighting tourism’s potential, Minister Yadav outlined plans for enhancing tourism packages within the district, including a newly developed temple tourism circuit. This initiative aims to attract travelers heading to Tirumala-Tirupati from North Andhra Pradesh, providing them an opportunity to visit Durga Malleswara Swamywarla Devasthanam in Vijayawada on their return journey. “The administration has put together special tourism packages to leverage the district’s numerous attractions,” Yadav noted, underlining tourism’s vital role in the socioeconomic framework.
The DRC meeting focused on reviewing the Action Taken Report concerning 113 issues previously raised by MPs, MLCs, and MLAs. The issues included developing MSP for chilli, designating land for MSME projects, and implementing the Crop Cultivators’ Rights Card for tenant farmers. Minister Yadav stressed the importance of focusing on agenda-based discussions to foster deeper, sector-specific dialogue, allowing public officials and representatives to contribute effectively.
Proposing reforms to streamline future discussions, Yadav suggested that each DRC meeting should concentrate on two specific sectoral themes, like agriculture and tourism, enabling thorough examination and discourse. To facilitate this, he directed District Collector Lakshmisha to notify DRC members 15 days before each meeting to gather agenda items, ensuring preparedness and focus.
Within the district’s economic landscape, District Collector Lakshmisha disclosed that the services sector currently holds a substantial 67.19% share in the financial system, with sights set on increasing it to 67.29% this year. Furthermore, both tourism packages are expected to roll out within the next ten days, marking an expansion of district tourism efforts.
With Kondapalli Fort serving as the venue, the DRC meeting also aimed to highlight the cultural significance and tourism potential of the site. The fort’s inclusion as a meeting location was strategic, designed to promote not only its historical value but also to bolster local tourism efforts, positioning it as a key attraction in NTR district’s developmental blueprint.
