Operation Cyclone: Security Forces’ Joint Victory as Massive Arms Cache Seized in Manipur
In a series of coordinated operations, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles formations, under Spear Corps, launched information-based operations in Manipur, working closely with the Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF, and ITBP. Between March 26 and 29, 2025, the joint forces recovered 29 weapons, improvised devices, grenades, ammunition, and other war-like stores.
Acting on specific intelligence, the Indian Army and Manipur Police launched a joint operation on March 26, 2025, in the general area NP Kholen, Kangpokpi district. During the operation, they recovered four weapons, including two AK series weapons, one Carbine, and one 7.62 mm Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), as well as ammunition and war-like stores.
On March 27, 2025, the troops responded to suspicious movement in Parbung, Tengnoupal district, establishing a cordon and sanitizing the area. A subsequent search operation led to the discovery of freshly dug earth camouflaged with stones and leaves. A deep search using a metal detector confirmed the presence of buried metal, and upon excavation, three Improvised Mortars (Pompis) and three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were recovered. In Chingdong Leikai, Jiribam district, Assam Rifles, CRPF, and Manipur Police launched a joint operation, recovering three INSAS rifles and two 7.62 mm SLRs, as well as ammunition and war-like stores.
The same day, the Army recovered one rifle, one Carbine, two sniper rifles, two pistols, IEDs, grenades, ammunition, and war-like stores from Naranseina, Bishnupur district. Additionally, in Molnom, Chandel district, the Army and Assam Rifles recovered three improvised mortars and two pistols, while in Senapati district, Assam Rifles seized four Single Barrel Bolt Action Rifles, one pistol with a magazine, 20 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, an improvised projectile launcher, and three live grenades with fuses from Changobung.
The recovered items have been handed over to the Manipur Police, highlighting the unwavering commitment of the security forces to maintaining peace and security in Manipur.
