Left-Wing Solidarity: 48-Member Tripura Delegation to Unite with CPI(M) in Madurai Congregation
A 48-Member Delegation from Tripura Heads to CPI(M) Party Congress in Madurai
Tripura is set to send a 48-member delegation to the five-day Communist Party of India (Marxist) or CPI(M) party congress in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, starting April 2. The team, led by Tripura CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chaudhary, includes former chief minister and politburo member Manik Sarkar. According to CPI(M) sources, all delegates from the state are scheduled to depart by March 31.
The delegation, comprising 40 delegates, two observers, and six central committee members, will discuss the party’s strategy, which was laid out in the 23rd CPI(M) party congress in Kerala’s Kannur. “The party strategy adopted in the 23rd CPI(M) party congress focused on strengthening our own organisation and bringing secular forces together to resist the BJP,” said Chaudhary in an interview with PTI.
The party’s approach will be evaluated in the upcoming 24th CPI(M) party congress, with a focus on promoting organisational growth and building a united front against the BJP. “We succeeded in restricting the BJP’s seat tally in the last Lok Sabha elections by bringing all secular parties together, but unfortunately, we couldn’t prevent the RSS-backed party from forming the government,” reflected Chaudhary.
The CPI(M) is also planning to tackle organisational shortcomings during the Madurai meeting. With a strong emphasis on revitalising party structures and strengthening its base, the CPI(M) is hoping to emerge stronger and more united in the coming years. As the party’s leaders prepare for the big day, expectations are running high, and the upcoming CPI(M) party congress promises to be a crucial event in the country’s political landscape.
