Jamshedpur FCs Unstoppable March: Clinching Third Straight Win, Steeped in Ambition to Win National Championship
In a thrilling encounter, Jamshedpur FC marked their third consecutive win in the Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL) 2024-25 National Group Stage, outclassing NorthEast United FC 5-2 at the Reliance Corporate Park in Mumbai. The Red Miners, under the guidance of head coach Kaizad Ambapardiwalla, have been formidable opponents, and this match was no exception.
The match began on a high note for Jamshedpur FC, with Bivan Jyoti Laskar scoring in the 13th minute. A pinpoint cross from Ningthoujam Remson Singh found Laskar in a dangerous position, and he made no mistake in capitalizing on the opportunity. The goal was just a precursor to a dominant performance by the Red Miners, who doubled their lead in the 29th minute through a magnificent direct free-kick from Pallujam Rohan Singh. The goal, which has already been touted as one of the season’s most spectacular, was a result of a foul committed just outside the box by Lawmsangzuala.
NorthEast United FC refused to give up, and Laishram Danny Meitei pulled one back for the team in the 53rd minute. Meitei’s impressive left-footed strike left the goalkeeper off guard, and the midfielder’s efforts were recognized with a well-deserved goal. However, Jamshedpur FC’s superior form and tactical acumen ultimately won the day, as they added two more goals in the 70th and 79th minutes through Lawmsangzuala and an own goal from Vumlenlal Hangshing. Sairem Sital Singh sealed the deal for Jamshedpur FC in the 89th minute with a penalty, which came as a consolation to Danny Meitei’s earlier strike.
In the second match of the day, Kickstart FC rebounded from an earlier defeat against Jamshedpur FC with a resounding 3-0 win over Diamond Harbour FC. The Karnataka side, led by skipper Crispin Cleetus, took the lead in the 60th minute through a penalty awarded to Jithu, who was brought down inside the box. Saikhom Borish Singh capitalized on a pinpoint delivery from Crispin to convert it from close range in the 74th minute, and the latter took advantage of a melee inside the box to seal the game with a low-flying finish in the 81st minute.
The victories are a testament to the teams’ growing prowess in the RFDL, and fans can anticipate more thrilling encounters as the league progresses. With their latest wins, Jamshedpur FC and Kickstart FC have solidified their positions in the group, with the former’s and the latter’s confidence boosted by their impressive displays.
