Empowering Arunachal’s Eco-Friendly Future: Mebo’s Community-Driven Environmental Success
Mebo Mission Concludes, Leaving a Lasting Impact on Arunachal Pradesh’s 39th Assembly Constituency
The Eco-Clean Mebo Mission (ECMM), a flagship initiative in Arunachal Pradesh’s 39th Mebo Assembly constituency, has successfully concluded its mission to promote cleanliness, environmental balance, and village beautification across all 17 villages and the Mebo town. The mission, which started in Ayeng village and wrapped up in Ralling village, was a testament to the remarkable achievements possible through community-driven initiatives.
The mission aimed to further the country’s goal of making 2025 the “Year of Eco-Clean” and was supported by the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Each village took on its unique “cleanliness mission,” such as Ayeng’s tree-planting drive, Bodak’s floral campaign, and Aohali’s zero-hunting initiative, among others. These efforts culminated in a series of launches and events focused on achieving specific environmental objectives in each village.
One notable outcome was the launch of the Kamrakh Pariyojana mission in Namsing, transforming the village into a “Star Fruit Paradise.” The event drew in Mebo MLA Oken Tayeng as chief guest, alongside retired Deputy Commissioner Kumson Pangging and ZPM Mebo Banggo-II, Smty Oter Tayeng, as special guests. The mission, spearheaded by the Kamrakh Pariyojana Committee and local community groups, received strong support from the villagers, solidifying their commitment to eco-friendly agriculture.
Similarly, Kongkul village saw the Aying Tadar Mission launched, with the goal of establishing a thriving lychee farm. This initiative, led by the Aying Tadar Mission Committee and the Lupang Welfare Society, introduced a unique approach by supporting the survival of lychee saplings, with the society committing to provide Rs. 1,000 per month to caretakers of the plants. Ralling village hosted the launch of the Golbing Mission, aimed at setting up a Golbing tree estate, which would provide silkworm feeding trees. The event was attended by MLA Oken Tayeng, public leader Dr. Dangi Perme, and ZPM Smty Oter Tayeng, along with community leaders from the Anbo Moyong Welfare Society.
Mebo MLA Oken Tayeng, the ECMM patron, expressed optimism that the unity demonstrated by the villagers would result in sustained success for the ongoing initiatives. He stressed that the success of the missions relies heavily on the hard work and coordination of village elders and leaders, emphasizing the importance of maintaining unity without political divides. ECMM Manager Smty Olen Megu Damin, an awardee of the Sangeet Natak Akademy, played a significant role in managing the final leg of the mission launches and events. The mission’s success has set an ambitious goal for all villages in the Mebo Sub-Division to continue their cleanliness drives and beautification efforts.
The Eco-Clean Mebo Mission leaves behind a lasting impact, demonstrating the power of community-driven initiatives in achieving remarkable results. As the state and nation strive towards a cleaner and more sustainable future, the ECMM serves as a shining example of how collaboration and collective effort can spearhead transformative change.
