Empowering Young Minds at the 8th North-East Youth Festival: A Beacon of Inspiration
Gangtok, March 21, 2025: In a bid to promote youth empowerment, cultural exchange, and national integration, the 8th North-East Youth Festival was held at Paljor Stadium in Gangtok. The event, attended by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay and Union Minister Raksha Nikhil Khadse, was themed ‘Empower Youth, Empower Region – My Bharat, Viksit Bharat,’ aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a fully developed India.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister praised the government’s efforts in transforming the Northeast since 2014, highlighting improvements in connectivity, infrastructure, and economic opportunities. He also commended the Prime Minister for recognizing the region as ‘Ashta Lakshmi’ and acknowledged his support through initiatives like UNNATI 2024, StartUp India, and StandUp India. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of education, skill development, entrepreneurship, tourism, and cultural preservation, showcasing the region’s rich heritage, world-class talent in sports and arts, and the potential for eco-tourism and sustainable development.
The Chief Minister urged the youth to take leadership roles, innovate, and contribute to India’s progress. He reaffirmed his commitment to working together for a brighter and more prosperous future. The festival, he said, serves as a platform for the youth to exchange ideas, explore diverse cultures, and contribute to a stronger Northeast and a developed India.
The event, organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, brought together 552 participants from across the Northeast, including NSS volunteers, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan members, and officials. The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Governor Om Prakash Mathur, Union Minister Raksha Khadse, and all officials and participants who made the festival a success, despite Minister Mandaviya’s absence due to unavoidable circumstances.
The Chief Minister also thanked the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for their unconditional support. The festival is seen as a vital platform for the youth of the Northeast to showcase their talents, skills, and commitment to national development.
