Transform Hyderabad: Unveiling the Groundbreaking RFP for the Paradise-Dairy Farm Road Elevated Corridor and Tunnel Project
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) announced on Monday its request for proposals (RFP) for the construction of an ambitious elevated corridor-cum-tunnel project between Paradise and Dairy Farm Road. This significant infrastructure undertaking, set to be executed under the EPC turnkey system, aims to enhance transportation efficiency in the bustling city. The project scope includes comprehensive surveys, investigations, detailed designs, and drawings, alongside the construction of the elevated corridor and tunnels with all necessary components.
The proposed corridor spans 5.4 kilometers. An integral part of the project involves detailed planning for utility shifting, including water pipelines and electrical poles, costs of which will be covered by HMDA. This initiative underscores a commitment to mitigating traffic congestion, particularly benefiting those who commute daily through the city or travel outside it via National Highway 44. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy laid the foundation for this six-lane corridor on the National Highway 44 on March 8.
A critical feature of the project is the strategic design to fly over the Tadbund and Bowenpally junctions, effectively addressing notorious traffic choke points. In addition, to avoid disruptions to the Begumpet Airport operations, the project includes constructing a 600-meter-long tunnel, circumventing the airport entirely. Construction of this tunnel is scheduled to take place exclusively during nighttime hours, thanks to coordinated efforts with the Airports Authority of India, which recently approved the undertaking of this significant task.
Once completed, the corridor is expected to provide a much-needed relief from the persistent traffic woes encountered by residents and visitors alike. The project’s implementation promises to alleviate congestion and streamline vehicular movement, fostering smoother connectivity along this vital stretch of National Highway 44.
The HMDA’s decision to proceed with such a large-scale infrastructure project underscores the agency’s commitment to modernizing Hyderabad’s transport systems. This endeavor is designed to not only meet the city’s current transportation demands but also to accommodate future increases in traffic volume, aligning with Hyderabad’s growth trajectory.
This RFP and the keen attention to detail ensure that every phase, from planning to execution, is thoroughly vetted. With modern engineering solutions and proactive collaboration between government bodies and stakeholders, the project is poised to set a benchmark in urban infrastructure development.
As Hyderabad continues to expand, projects like this are critical in maintaining the city’s accessibility and livability. Anticipation grows as stakeholders await the proposals, eager to kickstart a project that promises to redefine urban commuting and stimulate regional economic growth. This initiative stands as a testament to the city’s commitment to supporting its population through visionary infrastructure improvements.
As the HMDA moves forward with this game-changing project, all eyes are on the potential positive impact it will bring to Hyderabad, enhancing the city’s reputation as a dynamic and forward-thinking metropolis. The commitment to seeing this project through assures residents that their daily commutes and travel plans will soon become more efficient and less stressful, significantly boosting the quality of urban life.
