Police Foil Terror Plot: Manipur Cops Seize 15 Weapons, 2 IEDs in Series of Intelligence-Based Operations
As security measures continue to remain tight in Manipur, police have intensified combing operations and cordon-and-search activities across both hill and valley districts to recover looted, snatched, and illegal weapons. The move is aimed at uprooting the spread of unauthorized arms in the region, with police reiterating their commitment to sustained and simultaneous raids to ensure the recovery of all unauthorised arms. The security forces have been conducting search operations and area domination exercises, particularly in the fringe and vulnerable areas of these districts.
To facilitate the movement of essential supplies, a total of 122 vehicles were escorted along NH-37, while 637 vehicles traveled safely along NH-2 under tight security measures. The authorities have also deployed additional security convoys in sensitive stretches to ensure the smooth and safe passage of goods and personnel. Furthermore, 109 Nakas (checkpoints) have been set up across different districts of Manipur, covering both hill and valley areas.
In a significant breakthrough, a search operation in the Dampi ridge area under Churachandpur Police Station in Churachandpur District led to the recovery of multiple weapons and explosives. The seized items include a range of arms, including a .303 rifle, locally-made single-barrel and .22 rifles, pump-action guns, and more. The authorities have also recovered Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), anti-riot stun shells, and Baofeng radio sets, among other items.
The Manipur Police have reaffirmed their commitment to regular and sustained operations to curb the proliferation of illegal weapons and maintain peace and stability in the state. While no individuals were detained for violations during these operations, the authorities continue to enforce strict security measures at vulnerable locations to prevent further incidents and ensure law and order in the state.
The recent developments in the state have sent a strong message to those involved in the illegal arms trade, with police emphasizing that their efforts will not go unchecked. As the security situation remains fluid, residents are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities. With the police working tirelessly to maintain the state’s safety and security, it remains to be seen how this latest development will impact the ongoing efforts to keep the region stable.
In related news, the authorities have also been working to ensure the smooth movement of essential supplies, providing escorts for 122 vehicles along NH-37 and 637 vehicles along NH-2, as well as deploying additional security convoys in sensitive areas. With the stakes high, the people of Manipur will be closely watching the developments as the authorities work to restore order and stability to the region.
