Holi Hysteria in Ludhiana’s Transport Nagar: 8 Arrested in Clash, Commotion and Chaos Erupts
Title: Tension Grips Ludhiana’s Bihari Colony as Clashes Break Out During Holi Celebrations
Tension gripped the Bihari Colony area in Ludhiana’s Transport Nagar on Friday as two groups clashed during Holi celebrations. The incident occurred near a mosque, where Muslim community members were offering Friday prayers, while on the other side, migrants were celebrating Holi with loud music. This led to a heated confrontation, with both sides pelted stones at each other, according to police.
The clash was later brought under control after an FIR was registered and at least eight people were arrested. Ludhiana Police officials clarified that the incident was not communal in nature. “It was not a communal clash. The situation is completely under control,” said Additional DCP 4 Prabhjot Singh Virk. “On one side is the mosque, where Muslim community members were coming out after offering prayers while observing roza. On the other side of the road, migrants settled in the area were celebrating Holi. They had installed speakers for loud music, and some were intoxicated. Miscreants from both sides created a nuisance, leading to heated arguments that escalated into stone pelting.”
The FIR was registered at the Moti Nagar police station, and at least 15 suspects have been booked in connection with the incident. The authorities ensured that the situation was brought under control, with a stern warning to the miscreants. “Our first priority was to maintain law and order. The situation is completely under control after the case was registered. At least eight have been arrested,” said Prabhjot Singh Virk.
The incident was a worrying sign of how divisive issues can be, but it was reassuring to know that the authorities acted swiftly to contain the situation and ensure public safety. As the city gears up for more celebrations, it is crucial that all communities come together to ensure peace and harmony.
